Built
From Experience

"In 2011, while working as a pastry chef in Iraq, I began having sudden seizures. A friend urged me to seek help — that’s when I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Managing it abroad was tough. Medication was expensive, and I often relied on friends just to get by.
When I returned to Kenya in 2016, a severe seizure left me hospitalized and broken — physically and emotionally. That moment changed everything. I realized how many others were suffering in silence, just like I had. That’s when I knew I had to do something. That’s how Kiserem Foundation began.

Our History & Goal
The founder’s experience with epilepsy and the silence that often surrounds it in many communities sparked a deep desire to create change. In 2018, he launched the Kiserem Foundation to provide support, raise awareness, and challenge the myths that keep people suffering in isolation.
Rooted in Mwihoko, the foundation partners with schools and churches to build open, informed conversations—replacing fear with knowledge, and shame with understanding.

OUR MISSION
&
VISION
MISSION: To Reach Many People.
Today, Kiserem Epilepsy Foundation supports over 200 people each year with free epilepsy medication, made possible by our supporters. We also empower lives through free skill training in carpentry, beauty, and baking—for those with epilepsy or disabilities—while others pay a small fee to support our teachers.

Vission: To Create a Lasting Impact
Our vision includes establishing a local clinic in Mwihoko, addressing the urgent need for accessible epilepsy care, and eliminating the need for travel to Nairobi for treatment. Through education, support, and skill-building, the Kiserem Epilepsy Foundation continues to illuminate paths for individuals affected by epilepsy, fostering a community of understanding, strength, and hope.
